Famico has sold another part of Potassium Hydroxide 90% (KOH) with the quantity of 45 MT. It is worth mentioning that KOH is a white, deliquescent solid in the form of flakes obtained by concentration of purified electrolytic potassium hydroxide solution. Along with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), this colorless solid is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications, most of which exploit its caustic nature and its reactivity toward acids. Potassium hydroxide is often the main active ingredient in chemical “cuticle removers” used in manicure treatments. About 100 times more NaOH than KOH is produced annually. KOH is noteworthy as the precursor to most soft and liquid soaps, as well as numerous potassium-containing chemicals.
